We believe that homework is an important part of the learning process that reinforces, extends, and enriches academic concepts and skills. Although students are required to keep their agendas up to date, the "Homework Connection" is an additional resource allowing parents to take an active interest in their student's education. Van Avery Prep students can also find links to helpful websites, pictures of school activities, and files relating to ongoing projects. Van Avery Prep has established this site to increase communication between our teachers, students, and parents in the fourth through eighth grades. It is for the exclusive use of our school community and is therefore password protected. Passwords are available from you homeroom teacher.

Accelerated Reader Program......

The Accelerated Reader Program is a computer-based software program which provides our teachers with valuable data on their individual student’s reading practice. Van Avery Prep has an ever widening selection of quizzes from which students choose books then take a multiple choice quiz about the contents of the books. All students in grades four through eight meet with their AR coaches each quarter to set individual reading goals which encourage them to read more and expand their reading choices. Our goal is not just to produce students who read well, but who are well read. A link to our current list of AR quizzes can be found below.
