The Arts Home / Academics / The Arts Nurturing Young Minds Through the Arts Our arts program helps us achieve our mission of developing scholars, artists, and athletes of character. While they work hard academically, they also have the chance to be creative. Each week, they visit our beautiful art studio to explore different art activities. They engage in multimedia presentations, study artist voices and music, learn about artists, and much more. Our art teacher makes learning exciting with a virtual trip through an art museum, filled with interesting stories and facts about art from the past and today. Explore the Arts at Van Avery Prep Slide 1 Slide 2 Slide 3 Visual Arts After learning about artists and their work, our students connect with the artist’s story and style. They get to try the techniques that made the artist’s work so unique and exciting. Once they have learned these skills, the real fun begins! Our young artists make their own masterpieces using the same materials, styles, or subjects as the artists that they have studied. This hands-on experience helps them discover their creativity and build confidence in their own artistic talents. Art Studio Art Studio Our art studio has paint, watercolors, sculpting clay, and a wide variety of materials to expand our students’ imaginations. It also serves as an art gallery, showcasing art from each grade. Our parents are always welcome to stop by and see what new creations their students have made. Performing Arts Performing Arts Our students in kindergarten through 5th grade take part in two performances a year. Our Holiday Show features students singing (and using sign language) to perform holiday songs, along with playing their instruments. In the spring, our students put on a play. Every class gets a chance to act, sing, and support one another. Through these performances, they learn the basics of theater. Another favorite event is our spring talent show. Our students love the chance to share their talents and skills with their family and friends. They perform a variety of acts, from singing and acting to martial arts and magic. Visual Arts
